    Homegrown Bow Grip

Literally! After seeing a post here with someone's custom grip, I knew it had to be done. My stock grip was lacking.Click image for larger version

Luckily ended up with a square piece on the table saw. Then proceeded to cut the grove to fit the bows riser. I did not take enough time here and spent quite a bit of time with a chisel as I was not about to put such a small piece back on the saw. A little band saw work, a ton of sanding, and some poly and ended up with:

The nose may seem a little extreme, but it is really comfortable the way it rests in the pocket of my thumb and forefinger. I did drop the nose down a little and added some depth as well. It hasn't thrown off my shots, but gives alot more assurance of where my hold is compared to the stock grip.

    Next, saw some tripod threads

That is sweet!!!! Make the "nose" longer and drop down like a hook and you can probably do without a wrist sling. You should patent that pretty quick.

Slacker don't know what he's talking about ... make it like a thumbhole stock ... now you got yourself a winner!

Man that came out nice. And I agree, make another w/ the thumbhole just to check it out.

Thanks! I was surprised it came out as well as it did. If I ever do another one a bench sander will be mandatory. Yeah, I want to see someone with a thumbhole grip.
