    Big 3D Shoot Suggestions

I have a group of high school kids who have an archery team (more of a club) at the high school I teach at who want to attend a big 3D shoot. We were originally planning on the r100 (and we still may go) but since it is the same weekend as prom, I'm trying to come up with some alternative suggestions. So far I've found the Total Archery Challenge and the Charity shoot at the TTHA Bucks and Barbecue and those both look good. Hoping to take them somewhere that has some good door prizes and/or raffles. The big TBOT shoot would be good but only one of them shoots a trad bow. Any other suggestions? Let me know. Thanks.

    ASA Paris Pro Am

1200-1300 shooters with divisions and style for everyone. Expo booths, food and lots of hanging out with multiple events to shoot (Team Shoot, Individual, Sims, Long Distance Novelty etc). Lifetime experience for anyone wanting to see a "big shoot". Will also give them a chance to see the Pro Pressure Shootdown and see the Pros Shoot right in front of the crowd...not to mention the red river shootout (if that's happening as well). Awesome weekend

I agree if they want big go ASA to shoot Paris. For your trad shooter not sure because of age for the traditional class in that shoot. If not maybe he can shoot TBOT hill country shoot .

        Questions

It sounds really cool. Any idea the cost to shoot? I imagine there are lots of good door prizes and raffles? How many targets does the course have? I tried to find info online but I guess I wasn't looking in the right places. I appreciate the help.

The Paris pro am does not have raffles or door prizes. It is a big money shoot with competitors from all over the states. Might be a bit much for your group.

I suggest stick to either the R 100 or the TAC. They are more relaxed and less competitive with more to do than there ASA pro am.

Since you have a group of kids (club) you should look into creating a Scholastic 3D team (www.s3da.org). ASA is a partner with Scholastic 3D and has created three classes (Elementary pins, Middle School pins and High School pins) specifically to accept individual competitors and teams at ASA Federation (state level events) and at ASA Pro/Ams.

The Scholastic 3D program was created by Jenny Richardson who also created the original NASP program. Jenny saw the need for the "next step" for kids coming out of the NASP and 4H programs. The Scholastic 3D program is an after school program that will give kids the opportunity to continue to develop their archery skills and move forward in other types of archery endeavors such as 3D and bow hunting.

This program is already growing in Kentucky (Jenny's home state), Indiana and Alabama. I am getting a great deal of interest about Scholastic 3D here in Texas. We just had a husband and wife team from the Dayton, Texas area travel to Kentucky for Scholastic 3D training. They are now certified to teach kids and also train adults as S3DA coaches. If you are interested in starting a S3DA team or teams in your area please give me a shout.

My wife and I are the Texas Scholastic 3D state directors. We are looking for regional directors around the state that will develop teams and coordinate competitions in their areas.

That sounds interesting. If we get the local 3D Club going again (and it looks like we will), I'll contact you for more info. Thanks.
