Bow / Rifle blind Window height

I'm starting my bow/rifle blind this weekend and I'm curious what the GS recommends for window dimensions (vertical or horizontal) and if they are horizontal windows how high off the floor is the sill (gun rest)?

I built my first blind for rifle only and the sill is 42" off the floor which is fine for me when shooting, but terrible for the kids sitting or for me reclined in the office chair.

I won't ask where to get windows or what to use because I already have the link to deerview windows.

If elevated, the bottom sill should be about 24-28" and if on ground level, 30" if fine. I like the tops low enough to where I am eye level while sitting upright. Kind of depends on height of chair also.

On my elevated stands I set the window bottoms at 30 inches. Gives plenty of area to shoot out of for any size person.

Good info. I'm building some next month and had the same question.

Guess theres more in my situation than I thought..... I am building my first rifle blind as we speak. I have built a few bow blinds and placed my horizontal windows at 42" just for viewing, but I am uncertain at what height I should place my horizontal windows on my rifle blind for viewing/shooting.

39 inches is what I have always done and it works great even for my dad he's 5'6" and I'm 6'.

I did 42" on my first for rifle only. It's great for me to shoot from (I'm 5'10") but not so good for watching if I want to lean back in the office chair..even with it jacked up to the highest. Worse is that my kids sitting on a folding chair, bag chair, or director's chair can't see out unless they stretch even sitting straight up. 39" would be headed in the right direction but might not be low enough for my 10 year old girls.
