    Groundblind Platform

Making a groundblind platform, 5x6 and will make it with 4 or 5 foot legs. Not quite sure if I want to use plywood or expanded metal for the floor.

What say you? If expanded metal what size should I get??

Plywood floor with carpet to cut down on noise and it will let less scent out.

Plywood top with carpet. I also put this http://www.academy.com/shop/Product_...51_548706_-1__ underneath the carpet. I build mine 6'x6' and buy 3 of these packs. Makes things much more quiet.

Or, just put a stall matt in there and don't worry about the padding or the carpet, and it will outlast the blind.

Give it time. Shop is only a couple months old.

I use this ^^ also and then put carpet on top of it.

                  Works great!

Costco sells it real cheap when they have it in stock.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but will cows bother it in the field.

I don't know. It will be 4+ feet off the ground once the legs are on it. I have had cows destroy groundblinds setting on the ground and had them up for several seasons and never touch them. Kind of like feeders, some do and some don't.

What about wind? How do you tie out the sides and do you have a rod from floor to top? So it doesn't cave in? I have been wanting to do this, but I have had pop ups in the past collapse, but generally if everything is staked down and tied down they work great. Do you run support arms up four sides? Sorry to hijack!

Making progress. I am thinking about using cables to "X" between legs on all 4 sides to brace it. Also going to weld a nut on each leg bracket so I can take out the slack between the leg bracket and the leg.

I am working on "out riggers" for the GB sides. Not sure what that is going to look like, if anyone has ideas I am all eyes.

Not too worried about the top collapsing, only time I have had issues with that is with snow. I might make a PVC pole to help prop it up.

Dang think is already heaver than I wanted.
