    What would you do?

Posted this in around the campfire without much luck hopefully I can get some advice here.
Ok so last week I put a ton of work into getting a 4 or 5 acre plot ready to plant sun flowers for dove. But long story short I wasn't able to get the sead in before the rain. So I have a couple options the ground is too wet for the big tractor we have but I may be able to get a little done with the little tractor if we don't get rain for a couple days and the ground dries out. So option one is to broadcast the sead with a hand spreader and hope the rain works it in enough or wait a couple days and use the small tractor and a drag to work it in or wait 7 or 10 days for it to dry out enough to use the big tractor and the sead drill we have. What would y'all do? Thanks

Wait to drill it or the birds will eat a lot of it.

When my food plot was to wet for the tractor I used my Polaris and an ATV disc. to help dry out the ground. worked great. Small seed works good using the rain to plant the seed but I am thinking sunflower seeds and such would be to big.

I would wait and drill it in too. Plenty of moisture in the soil with all the rain. It will give you deeper better root system than if you plant with the moisture on the surface. When you plant with the moisture on the surface the root system will spread out shallow. If you let the surface dry out but still have base moisture the seed will put a deeper tap root down which will help the plant get moisture this summer when it dries out on the surface. If you have a surface root system and we have a dry summer you will not have as good of a crop. JMO G-Luck

Thanks for the advice I just wasn't sure if waiting would make the seed not produce in time for dove season
