XT gets first blood a Black buck at night!!

Made a recent trip, or trips, down to hunt a black buck at riverview ranch near Ada OK. Weekend #1 We tried to make a stalk on them by crawling through a creek bed. We got within 80 yards and got busted. I had him at a full draw at about 60+ yards waiting for him to come in a present a better shoot. He would not have it and bolted.

We went to pick up some hog hunters from their stand and saw them at dusk. We ran about 300 yards to set up on them. They came within 30 yards but, too dark and the camera and my bow lights gave off too much light. Busted again. Back home I go and wait for the next weekend.
Round 2. We tried the creekbed again and did not get as close as we did the last time. Busted.

We tried to get on them several times but could not any closer than 80-100 yards. Lost them before dark. Back home again and try it next weekend.

Round 3. Set up a ground blind to catch them at a crossing. On our way to the blind they were feeding 30 yards from it. We got busted again. We got in the blind. They later came through and came within 40 yards but would not present a shot. They stared us dwon for several minutes. They were heading for a broadside shot at 35 yards but turned at went another way. They were going to cross a deep ravine and come broadside again at 20-25 yards. For some reason they came up the other side of the ravine and hit the after burners and were gone.

We tried several attempts to get on them again and no dice. This was my last weekend before deer season so we had to produce something. We set up in a hog feeding area and got in a tree and hoped that they may come in to the feed. Keith, from the ranch, had only see them come to feed once. We said a prayer and gave it a shot. It got dark around 7:30. We decided to sit it out. We had used a "hawg-lite" at night to hunt hogs and made some videos before. We thought what the heck. We had about 30 hogs in on the feed. There was one that was injured and we had decided to take out the poor pig. I had nocked an arrow with an luminock arrow. I was getting ready to let her fly when Keith's brother, Steven, got my attention that the black buck had came in. It was about 9:45. We wanted to get some footage. We waited him out and came within 30 yards and stopped broadside. I pulled back the switchback xt and let her fly. The nock lite up and you coud see it trace through both shoulders and the gear box. He jumped about 6-8 feet straight in the air and took off like lightning. I was concerned about tracking him but he left a huge blood trail and went 100 yards and did the coffee grind. Here he is.

He ended up being bigger than I thought. He actually had ground swelling instead of shrinkage. He is my best yet. We worked hard for him but it was worth it. Taking him at night was the best. I will put a video together so you can see the action. RR another one bites the dust.

What a trophy! Any time you shoot a blackbuck with a bow, that is something.
