    ??? On wildlife exemption

I manage 70 acres and I am looking to get wildlife exemption for it. I asking for y'all's experience with getting that tax exemption on a small piece of property. Could I manage for whitetail or is it to small?

That is enough for the wildlife exemption. My dad is exempt on his 63 acres.

Had a buddy get his wildlife exemption on 30 acres. It needs to be Ag exempt already. Have a biologist come out and do a formal written plan. My buddy has his for turkey, at the recommendation from the biologist. Now he just follows the plan and turns in a report annually on what he has done each year, with receipts.

I think you have to have 3 out of 7 management items done if I remember right(food, water, brush piles, bird feeders..etc)

It is not too small of a place to manage. Anything is better then nothing.

Minimize pressure, water, food, safety and you can help out the herd

I have seen 5 acre places get their exemption. You have to be in Ag first.

My cousin is a biologist and does 1-d-1 conversions for a living. PM me if you want his info.

Have you looked at the form yet?

              It isnt species specific.

I have done some research and I thought you have to specify you target animal.
This is the form I have seen. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publicat..._mgmt_plan.pdf

                      Thanks that helps a lot.

As of now I am feeding 20% protien from a single 1000lb feeder. There is a medium sized seasonal tank that has had drainage diverted to it in the past. Once it goes dry I plan on putting supplemental water in the protien pen. The property consist of 25% pasture 75% brush. Hopefully I can get two .25 acre food plots going in the spring. I don't have equipment so I am trying to make a deal with a neighbor to get it going.

We have it on our 210 acres in Edwards county. The previous owner had it and when we purchased it we just continued with it. It hasn't been all that easy let me tell ya! Out of those 7 things to do you have to choose at least 3 on a particular animal your going to manage. And SOMETIMES the appraisal office doesn't seem to always go by what the state says to do...so at times their is some confusion. They do come out to our place every spring and check on what we have done for that year and is it done to what our annual plan said we were going to do. Edwards county can be a pain sometimes. Now in other counties I have heard its a lot easier and maybe they are not as strict.
