    Question - painting metal

My husband and I found some of the old "tulip" metal chairs from the 50's that are in pretty decent shape, but have some surface rust on them. The nuts and bolts will also have to be replaced. We are going to sand them (wire brush) them and put Rustoleum metal primer on them. Once the metal primer is on, can we use an outdoor latex or acrylic paint or should we stick with the paint for metal surfaces? We want a specific color to match our house and I'm not sure we can tint it.

You may be able to go to an auto paint supply place..they may be able to mix some matching paint that will work for you

I have known a few people that got paint mixed to match and put in rattle cans at auto paints supply stores.

Get an epoxy primer. It will seal the metal so it doesn't rust anymore, and it will also let you use acrylics, laquers, latex, etc.

They sell spray bottles that you can add your own paint. I recommend an oil base for your chairs
