    Making my first blade

I took an old file and after annealing it started shaping it.

After it was shaped and heat treated.

Started doing a little polishing on it.

Thinking about putting Redwood handles on it altough I have some pretty nice Ironwood. Hmm decisions, decesions. For my first try at this I am very happy with the results so far.

Looking good so far! I vote for iron wood I'd like to see how it looks for a handle.

The ironwood will be more durable, a bit of a pain to work though

Worked great, it is by no means a 2x72 but it worked very well.

A man that can build a custom kayak will certainly have no problem with a knife. Nice work so far.

My Daughter has laid claim to this little knife. The scales will be uhhh just a little different. I'll give a preview tomorrow.

Told you these scales were going to be a little different. The cool weather is slowing the epoxy down so I am kinda stuck until they cure out some, probably be able to work them tomorrow.

You da man for making some homemade phenolic! Have you seen the homemade "damascus" phenolic? Same process but you twist it. Not a lot of yield but cool result.

Got the scales shaped and a coat of epoxy. When it dries I'll give it a light sanding and then varnish.
