    Hog Trap Design?

Need ideas on an inexpensive way to trap hogs. I've heard about putting a feeder out, surrounding it with T-Posts and bull panel and making some sort of trip plate underneath the feeder....Does anybody have plans or pictures that I can duplicate?

I was planning on building one this year. Still have not decided weather to go with a box type or corral type. Love the info I find on this forum.

Its hard to explain so hopefully this pic helps. Make a 6 design with some bull panels. Where the panels should meet curl the last one inside so they overlap. Pigs should be able to push their way in but cant escape.

Best way to trap hogs ever. Tie the one entrance panel open til they are used to it then let it just slap back against the outside wall. They will push their way in with no problems. No tripwire, no nothing. Simple and easy. Use several more panels then is what is here if you want to catch more.

We tried it once but had no luck. We are in the middle of a drought so needless to say no pigs. The pic isn't mine I found it on google

i have caught 8 at one time and 2 singles. Good design, but the piggies will get smart to it after a while.

Most I've ever seen in our 6 trap at once is 13--biggest was maybe 65 lbs. We use trip wire/rope on ours. Might have to try it without--once one gets inside and starts chomping on corn, the others are sure as heck gonna want in too-

I found 9 pigs in my Figure 6 trap one morning. Killed every one. Upon review of the camera card, there had been at least 14 in the trap the night before. I still think it's the most cost-effective and effective method out there. I killed about thirty out of it in one spot befopre I had to move it.

The figure 6 trap works really well with a trigger. I have a wexford heart shaped trap. Saw where they recommend wiring a 2x2 across the opening to keep the trap open till the hogs get used to it. Board is notched on the ends so it will fit on the cow panel and can be tied to place to keep the door open.

I did not think a trigger would work but it is great. If the trap is wired open to say 2 feet then cut a 2 ft piece of 2x2 and cut the notches in the ends to hold into the cow panels. Cut the 2x2 in half and put a hinge for the middle pieces with a place to tie a trigger string. Trigger string goes from 2x2 over a t post to where you want to set the trigger.

On my heart shaped trap I went with cord from pulley on t post to pulley on cow panel low down then switched to clear big game in 40 lb and over to tie off on the cow panel. You tie this so that you can put feed or what ever at the edge of the trap so the hogs have to push thru the big game to get to eat all the food.

Be sure to place the hinge facing the correct direction. With the notches it is hard to displace the board but very little pressure is needed to have the board pop loose and have the trap close when you put pressure on the trip line.
