    Fletchings arrows

Well I'm still a newbie to archery and bow hunting but decided to try fletchings some arrows this weekend. I read plenty on this sight and went with the blazer helix jig. I tried the loctite gel and also loctite extra time control gel. I liked the extra time control better. I was able to apply a smoother bead to the fletchings. It's a little thinner then the regular gel. It took a little bit of time but it was fairly easy and a great way to pass some time. I'm really happy with the outcome and very happy with the groupings after I fletched the arrows. Click image for larger version

      Welcome to the fire!

      Good job on the fletchings.

Make sure to flex text those arrows! All the more reason to not shoot groups.

Thanks guys. It was definitely worth the time to fletch them and was actually very easy. I'll be buying shafts from now on and fletching all of my own arrows.

Saves money and you get so much more pride when done by yourself. Welcome to the fire and great shooting by the way.

I like it because 1. its cheaper, 2. its kinda fun to fletch, and 3. I like all my stuff to be pretty, so I can customize them myself

I love fletching and designing new arrow schemes. Working to the upcoming turkey season arrows now.

Man you guys are a lil better than I at that Fletching thing.

I use NAP Quickfletch. All you have to do is boil water, clean shafts, drink beer {(only when waiting on water to boil) and make sure you watch your pot it takes longer that way and you can get more beers in), slide product on shaft adjust depth, dunk and spin the shafts in the boiling water let cool and your done.

I have a few arrows needing to be refletched. Wife said she would look into doing them. I'm gonna look into fletching my own now.

Fast, easy, and convenient kind-of defeats the purpose of why we fletch our own arrows in my opinion. A sense of accomplishment and customization to our liking is what it's all about.

It's really not hard. I thought it was going to be more of a pain but wasn't bad at all. It's well worth doing it myself in my opinion. If you don't mind the little extra weight, I think the wraps are the way to go also. If you need to refletch, the wrap is easier to remove from the shaft compared to scraping the glue off the shaft.
