Has anyone ever used bamboo arrows?? They are very strong and light... I have built about 130 dozen and will be selling these.. I have sold to my friends and family but they get a better deal.... They are heat tempered for extra strength and straightness and will be putting some pics online here in a month or so after I get back from a long expedition trip to Alaska

I shoot a 60lb bow. I should have said any in the 450-500grain weight. That way they finish up in the heaier weight in my first post. I have never even seen any bamboo arrows. I've shot a lot of different woods but not that. Might be fun to try some. Are these shafts or or are they fletched. I've always made my own ever since I started shooting wood.

The only place I've seen bamboo arrows was in an archery store in Osaka, Japan on a business trip. They use them for traditional archery (kyodo) and the arrows are about 34-36 inches long.
Do you have some pictures you could post? What do the bare shafts weigh for 28" 55# spine? Cost/dozen either shafts or finished arrows?

We used to make arrows out of bamboo as teenagers. I think I found the original instructions in a Primitive Archer magazine. The cool thing is that the joints in the bamboo become malleable when heated, so you can straighten the shaft pretty well. We also made our own broadheads out of sections of metal lumber strapping. We only used these arrows on rabbits and varmints, but they were FAST!
