So I had off yesterday and figured what better to do than go spend the day on public land where I have yet to hunt but have spent 7 days scouting. I was texting my buddy about a small 8 point about 15inches wide that had just walked by my stand only 8 yards away, when I looked up to see a shooter staring in my direction about 60 yards from me. He turned and walked away thru some trees out of sight. I figured I had blew it by jacking with my phone so I texted my buddy telling him what had happened, put the phone in my pocket and about the same time I did, out he stepped again. He had no idea I was 22 yards away 20ft high and I was about to let the rage eat! Perfect heart shot. And he crashed only 60 yards away. When I shot this buck I saw the original buck I had seen staring at me just a few minutes before running in the opposite direction. Thought the buck I shot was the same one and wish it had been!!! After recovering the buck and loading him in the truck I went to check cams to see if they were on it. Sure enough, the bigger buck was. Look below to see a pic. The buck I shot doesn't score high, but any 22inch buck on public is good! He was real young and would have been a monster in a few years. Now I am after his brother!!!
