    Lil' Sparky's first bow kill

Well about two weeks ago we headed out to the Diamond C. You probably remember the epic live thread. Well it was the weekend after that when we had an epic dead thread until Bud showed up and started updating from his phone. Headed out to Skylar's in hopes of getting a pig and doe for myself and a pig for Britt (Lil Sparky coined by Josh). We hunted with TexaswBOWhunter his wife Jada ( hope I spelled that right) focushunter his wife Cortney and his kids as well as a couple more of my kids and wife. It was the Diamond C family hunt. The first morning I hunted by myself for a couple reasons 1 Britt didn't want to wake up at 5:30 and 2 I wanted to knock out a doe early and concentrate on getting her pig. Well as luck would have it I saw about 40 animals from some great dall to fallow bucks axis bucks and some pigs all pretty early. I passed on shooting a pig as I knew pigs aren't a problem to get out there hoping it would keep the doe from getting to spooky to come in. That plan kind of worked as an axis doe showed about 8:30 but just wouldn't give me a shot. The one time she did she was right between to fallow buck with about a 2 ft window between them and I didn't feel comfortable enough that the bucks would hold still as I shot. So that morning was a big 0 for me. That afternoon around lunch focushunter and I went to spot and stalk some pigs and I found a little spotted sow sleeping and shot her a little high. When she ran I off I could see blood running out both sides and knew she was amoung the walking dead but decided to put a shuttle T in between the eyes and killed her. Sorry no pics of that. That evening Skylar put Britt and I in a double bull he was pretty confident we would see both doe and pigs. He threw about 30 lbs of corn under the feeder and it didn't take long for the first group of pigs to show. We picked out a decent sized spotted pig and waited for a shot then before we could get one they split. Not understanding why they left with the wind in our face as we sat there puzzled for about 30 seconds then we heard something coming just to the left of us. It was 2 red deer hinds or doe or whatever you call em. Seems that pigs are scared of those big ole things. So we watched them for awhile and then gave them a couple of claps of the hands to spook them of and waited for either a doe on my menu or more pigs. It wasn't long before we heard the sounds of a decent sized boar grunting and headed our way. Then about 20 more pigs hit the feeder and the last to show was the boar. We picked out an easily identifiable pig so we each knew what pig we were taling about. That pig was the biggest one by a good 50 pound and several inches. He offered a couple of good shots only to turn or have the shot blocked by other pigs. Soon he made a couple of mistakes, ran of some smaller ones and stepped completely broadside at 19 yards. I told Britt 20 though because that is what she practices mostly at. I told her when ever your ready you know where to hit him go ahead, before I could finish my snetence an arrow was flying. It looked like a good shot as the pig ran off but the arrow looked to not have great penetration. It looked like only 6" of the arrow made into the shoulder area of the pig. As ran off the arrow came out broken with about 6" missing. The shot looked good but we gave it time as it didn't look like great penetration. The last thing I wanted to do was track a wounded pig with my 13 year old daughter and no gun. Right about dark knowing Skylar was headed our way soon we retrieved the arrow and there was blood almost all the way down the shaft and splashes of blood on the vanes. I breathed a sigh of relief a big one too because Britt was pretty pumped and confident we would find her pig. When Skylar showed up Lucy the wonder rat terrier jumped out of the kubota and ran about 50 yards. The pig was dead. The magnus even passed all the way through with the rest of her arrow. It was a a perfect shot right through the heart. I am not sure who was happier Brittnee or myself. We went and picked up the rest of the hunters and wieghed the thing. 165lbs. I ended up sitting another morning focushunter shot a black buck that morning and texaswBOWhunter shot an axis that night. I thought about shooting a ram but passed. Another great weekend at the Diamond C with good food cold drinks and great people. Thanks again Skylar!! You the man!! I knew it would be the perfect place to get atleast a pig for my kids first bow kill.
