    Peach Cobbler in dutch oven

Does anyone have a detailed recipe for a peach cobbler made in a dutch oven?

    #2
line your ducth oven with aluminiun foil,
pour in peaches until about half full,
cover in extra moist yellow cake mix until 1-2 inches thick,
add some cinnamon on top if desired
    cook until thoroughly gooey...
as detailed as i could come up with, its how my momma does'em and the taste so good

X2 above but I add some squeesh butter on top of the cake batter. Instead of alum foil I use a deep dish alumn pan and put 3-4 of 1/2" hex nuts under the pan so the bottom doesn't burn if your cooking over coals.

If cooked on the ground, we use 8 to 10 charcoal briskets under the pot with 10 to 12 on the top. Keeps it the right temp without burning.

            2 boxes yellow cake mix
2 quart cans of peaches in syrup
            1 liter bottle of 7up

            Mix it together.

This is how I've done it at the lease.

              1-- yellow cake mix
              1-- large can of peaches
              1--stick butter or margerine
              2-- Tbls. sugar
              cinnamon

I use a 12" dutch oven.Take peaches and pour in bottom of foil lined dutch oven.Take cake mix next and sprinkle over peaches evenly.DO NOT mix peaches and cake mix together. Take stick of butter and slice into small slices and place on top of cake mix evenly. Then sprinkle the sugar over the cake mix evenly. Last ingredient to go on top of cake mix is cinnamon. Sprinkle as much as you would like. I use around 1 Tbls.

You will need 30 charcoal briquetes. Get them started on your grill and transfer after they are ready for cooking. You will need to put 12 charcoals under the dutchoven and 18 on the lid. Turn the lid clockwise every 15 minutes so it will cook evenly. Rotate bottom after rotating lid. After it has been cooking for 45 minutes remove charcoal from lid and set dutch oven aside with lid slightly cracked for about 15 minutes to finish cooking.

NOTE : The foil is optional. I use it so it is easier to clean up. The sugar is also optional also. I put it on just because -----well -----just because.
This is the first thing I ever cooked with dutch oven and I couldn`t believe how good it turned out and how easy it is to make. If you can use fresh peaches instead of canned it
will be better. I hope yours turns out as good as mine.

When you say "spinkle" in the cake mix..Is that the dry mix or do you mix it like you would do a cake and then pour it on top of the peaches?????

Wow! That looks good. Brings back memories of Boy Scout camp outs.

The cake mix and a can of peaches receipe is one of our scout favorites. The foil lining makes for quick clean up. Try this one, two cans apple pie filling, add 1-2 cups apple cider, white or yellow cake mix, stick of butter (cut pats and place evenly on top of cake mix) and a little brown sugar. Or cherry pie filling, thin cherries with cherry coke, chocolate cake mix, butter same as above. The combinations are limited only to the imagination. this is making me hungry.

substitute a cinnamon crumb cake mix and you get a nice crunchy top crust.

I definitely agree with the foil or deep dish pan. If you don't tear the foil scrapping the bottom for all the good stuff, virtually NO clean up.
