    Tripod........pod...

This is just an improvement (hopefully) on a design I came up with a few years back. I started with a Strong Built 14' Magnum, that I've had up for several years and never hunted from.

    Extra beef for the platform.

The old rifle rail made a nice "halo".

And some 1/2" tubing bent in archs to hold the netting back for plenty off elbow room. The 2 horizontal pieces on the near side in this pic will form the top and bottom of the shooting window.

I built an offset for the seat that moves it back, and left from the shooting opening (I'm right handed).

Couple hooks welded in front of me, and a thermacell holder that can be moved all around the blind.

I'm gonna screw a piece of sheet metal on top for a roof to keep the rain off, and the whole thing will be wrapped in burlap, then draped in military camo netting.

D~Mo delivers again! Nice job Dale. I sure wish I could find some more of that rubberized military netting.

D-Mo ... you are the Shiznit Metal God!

Just one thing ... your Thermacell holder looks like it hold the unit upright.
Did you know that they are supposed to be laid flat, with the grill up, when in use?

I can't wait to see the finished product!

I didn't know that Taxi.........guess it'll just have to lay under the seat.

There's a bow hanger too. I swear I took a picture of it, but it wasn't there when I pulled the pics out of the camera so....

I think I might try to put shoot through over the shooting hole as well.

I do have to give you props though, Dale ... that's the stoutest looking Thermacell holder I've ever seen!

Could you possibly just re-weld the part that fits over the tube ... so that it'll lay flat, either on top of or hang below the same cross member? I KNOW you have the ability!

I could, but I'm done welding till it cools off.

When I was heatin and beatin the steel for the bow hanger, I though....Texastaxi is gonna bust my stones for not puttin a beer holder in here.....maybe I could convert the T-cell holder.

Tippit, you been weldin alot longer than I have! I know you and Squibner could build 3 in the time it took me to do this one.

I found this pic a few minutes ago. It's where my avatar buck was standing when I let him have it.

Dale, honestly, I didn't think you were done with the project ... I haven't seen any of your stuff that DIDN'T have a beer holder.

I'm especially fond of the holder on the reciever hitch skinnin' hoist you did!

Nope, it's pretty much done! Except for being wrapped in burlap, draped in military camo, and stuffed in a tree! And maybe some shoot through....

I have that exact tripod stand and also beefed up the platform as i am a big boy. I used T-post and welded a 1' piece horizontally to the top of the T-post {to for a T} and then bolted this to the underside of the platform with u-bolts and also added a flange to the bottom of the T-post to allow it to bolt to the flanges already attached to the tripod post {where the X-braces attach}. This platform is now so sturdy it should hold at least 500 pounds. I will finish setting it up this weekend between hunts. Woody

Do you have any finished pictures? It looks like a great set up, I plan on doing something similar on two of my stands for next season.
