Had her dead to rights for a good 10 minutes, watched 9 different does make their pass through all morning. I had numerous doe/fawn and 2 does that brought twins in so I waited and chose my quarry on her lack of offspring.
25 yard shot slightly quartering away, hit her back and low...I thought I was dead on for a quartering away shot but I believe she turned just enough to render my shot nonfatal.
I was testing a new NAP bloodrunner and concluded it had to be the BH until I reviewed the video A LOT. MY MISTAKE, I should have taken a broadside shot or waited for her to turn a bit more.
After 1.5hr I followed a good blood trail to her lying in some cedar. pushed her hard through a dry creek bed and decided to back out and wait.
4 hours later and nearly 6 total after shot we jumped her twice more showing no SERIOUS signs of hampered movement. She continued to bleed thin drops here and there but we could not over take her in the thick brush.
Regretfully we backed out and called it a loss, took a big hit to confidence with this mishap. After reviewing video first thing after the shot I was quite pleased....needless to say I should not have been.
I have hit the target hard since and like before I know my 25yd shot is cold stone killer. I will just have to chalk it up and get back in the woods after an unfortunate series of events.
