    Blacktail Bows

Where's all them Blacktail bow pics that use to be here? I've been searching and can only find one. I ordered one about 18 months ago or something and due to family issues and money I couldn't afford it any more so I just gave up on it.
Well I guess Norm is behind more than a year now. Out of the blue he tracked me down said he has been looking for me for two months now and wants to know if I still want the bow built. He starts it later this month. I'm looking for a really good piece of Macassar or Madagascar Ebony if anyone knows where to get some. I've been searching the internet and it's hard to find what you are actually going to buy.

The plan is a 62" Elite 53#@28", Madagascar Ebony riser footed with Cocobolo, flat cut Zebra wood limbs footed with Madagascar or Cocobolo.
Here are some examples of the grain pattern and color I'm looking for.

How about posting some pics of your Balcktails guys..I need some eye candy to hold me over till mine is done.

And hey Tinman! I still have your bow when you want it back.

    Here's mine. 60" Elite VL 52@28

    Built in Sept 06

I just sent it back to Norm to fix some issues I had with the limbs. He is a HECK of a good guy and his bows are works of art!

Nice! That looks very similar to the one I use to have. Cocobolo footed with Ebony with Bloodwood spacer and flat cut Red Elm limbs.
Yeah he is a wood artists in my opinion.

      Keep em coming.

Here are my two: The recurve is Bocote footed with Cocobolo with matching limbs. The Longbow is Cocobolo handle with Figure Mrytle limbs and antler limb tips. I got the longbow just before Norm stopped making them....

If ever I have another bow built, it will be a 3 piece. I am still trying to get Dan (Dan Toelke) to build a 3 piece longbow. I guarantee he would sell a lot of them. I think Norm is in this months Traditional Bowhunter Magizine.

                  Blacktail bows

                  Hi there,

I've been meaning to buy a used LH Blacktail Recurve. Anybody knows the best place to search? Or knows someone that is selling?

What would be a good range of prices to search for good condition material?

                  Thanks

They must be pretty good if you have to wait 1 1/2 yrs to get one! If you need some wood, you need to send rubydog on TBH a PM. He supplies a LOT of bowyers with their wood.

Congrats on your new bow (eventually)!

I am pretty sure Ruby Dog can help you out with the wood.
