    Fletching Problems

Was going to fletch some arrows for my son today and had numerous difficulties. The fletch (blazers) was not sticking t the arrows (GT55/75 with wraps). I was using GoatTuff glue which normally works very good for me. However, today it was just not up to snuff. We then tried putting some on arrows without the wraps and once the glue was dry the fletching would just 'snap' off. So, my questions:

    1. Does glue go bad?

    2. What impact does temp. have on the glue/bonding issues?

i had the same problems, using the same arrows, glue and fletchings. Those blazers had a little valley that held the glue and i never could get them to stick, eventually I got some different vanes. Good luck

Trust me, it's not the vanes.
Clean the shafts, wraps, and vanes with denatured alcohol, then use fresh glue.
      I use Fletch-Tite with 0 problems.

I'm thinking it may be the glue. Does it get old?

I agree with Rocky, clean the vanes, wraps, and arrows with denatured alcohol or acetone, you should be good to go.

Oh, by the way, if that doesn't work, it could be the glue.

Cleaning will help. But the glue wont last forever. If you fletch alot keep your glue new and fresh it's the secret.

If you can't make it to a proshop to get more Goattuff, just get some Loctite Super Glue Gel. It's all all I ever use - works great - and you can buy it anywhere.

Have yall had a problem with the super glue leaving a haze on the arrows when it dries?

If there is ever any it seems to wear off. I spray crest mine white anyway.

Glue does have a shelf life and so does blazers! Is the glue sticking to either the vane or the shaft? If the glue is sticking to the shaft then change the vanes, if the other change the glue!

I just did 6 arrows the same was you did, wraps and blazers glued with Goattuff. My glue is two years old. When my arrows hit the target the first time the blazers came off of every arrow.

I went with locktite super glue. I aslo bought some Fletch Tite wrap blazer combo things. They dip in hot water and shrink to the arrow. I am interested to see how they will shoot. If they group I am done with wraps and fletching my own arrows.

I had a similar problem, but with Fletch-Tite Platinum. Glue stuck to the Blazers like crazy, but would come off the wrap cleanly. I just washed the wraps with warm soapy water and a brillo pad, rinsed with distilled water, refletched and it'd take a good pair of pliers to get these things off now!
