Because they are previously cooked and warmed ("fried") in oil, shortening, or bacon fat and mashed. Maybe REfried is a misnomer since they are being fried for the first time.

      Either way, Yummm...

Asked a co-worker who is latino....said that they are called frijoles refritos. In 'Merica speak that is refried beans.

Why do we say "reckless" when someone isn't thinking or caring about the consequences of an action? Shouldn't it be "reckfull"?

Traditionally they are fried, in bacon grease

Would final disposal be considered refried crap.
