Blaine got invited to a TYHP youth hunt on the Stasney's Cook Ranch near Albany this last weekend. I'd heard lots about the ranch and read many articles on it so we were pumped just to get to step foot on the ranch.
Our guide for this hunt was Mike Ciacco with TYHP. He was quite a character and left Blaine & I laughing the entire weekend.
Some of the others youth hunters of the weekend....
Saturday evening brought some well deserved success for Mr. Blaine. There was a videographer at the ranch making a video for the Stasney's and we were the selected subjects for Saturday evening. With 3 adults and Blaine with his chair, it was quite a fit inside an ice.
Blaine had a nice hog come out about 6 and he made a great shot at 96 yards. We saw the hog fall and decided to wait until dark to retrieve him in hopes of more game before the 7 pm cease fire. Our hopes for a deer were fading with only minutes left when our camera man spots a group of does coming in from the rear. With light fading too fast we decide to try and get Blaine and the 3 adults turned 180 degrees. We pull it off, however at 15 yards the deer bust us and run off a bit. Luckily after a few bleats from Mike, they stay in a shooting lane and Blaine pulled off a great shot at 70 yards on a doe. After a little extended recovery work, Blaine's double on the evening hunt is in the bag.
Blaine, and ranch hands Jack & Casey:
Blaine, Johnnie & Debbi Hudman:
Johnnie & Debbi Hudman are the most amazingly generous and honest people one could ever hope to meet. They make you feel you've been lifelong friends from the second you meet them.
Another amazing hunt for Blaine & myself all because of the generosity of unselfish volunteers and landowners.
Thanks for following another proud dad's rantings.
More pics to come....
