Hunted from 6am to Noon today - Saw a couple of turkey's, pigs, doe, and a small buck. Checked my cameras last week and 600+ photos of doe's and no larger bucks, so I'm thinking we've got a few more days before the rut.

Note: My setup is in some pretty thick stuff as well if that helps anyone

On like donkey kong right now. I've said before, I don't care if you call it pre-rut, end of the rut, post-rut, middle rut, whatever. Right now is the best time to be in the woods if you want to see a mature buck on his feet during daylight hours in Grayson County. Cameras and personal observations (including in the last 48 hours) confirm it for me, just like every year around this time. Cool days middle of the week this week should be dynamite.

There will be some good deer killed in Segment C. I'd bet it's best Segment this year!

Sorry didn't have any intentions of suggesting things weren't firing up and using the word "rut" means different things to different people.

My spot in East Grayson has been pretty active with lots of smaller bucks chasing and I had some larger bucks show up a couple of weeks ago, but they were still grouped up. Haven't seen them since and last weeks photo had zero bucks, so I was only stating I expect my spot should be in full swing this week.

I pray u r right!!! Weather will be in high 60's but if chasing it won't affect them at all. Lockdown mode with a doe may be the issue come Friday.

Went to check cams and throw some corn at one of my spots, and someone decided they needed my ladder stand and camera more than I did. Pretty frustrated. Sorry people in this world.

Had a cable stolen last week off my climber. Know who did it too. Talked to them that night and gave them an idea where I was. Not very friendly guys.. seemed to think that spot was theirs.. I moved location, WAY away. Hunted hard. And dropped this guy.... dragging him out now.

That's terrible. I haven't even hunted this spot yet. I can't figure out how they got in the property, let alone, found this particular set up.

Good job dapper. Heck of a deer!

In the woods this morning and lots of doe’s and yearling on the move from 7am to 9am. Had one little two year old buck come in nose down and grunting. He ended up running off a few doe’s that weren’t ready.

It's been a horrible year for me. Based on my camera I haven't even hunted once. Had a couple small bucks coming in at 9:30pm and 3:00am semi-regular, but two weeks ago my site went silent and I've had almost nothing come in. Or my four year old Wildgame Innovations camera is starting to die. Dunno.

nah I use them too, where I hunt things tend to come up "missing" so I refuse to pay for nice cameras. I have had a few bad WG cams but I have had a lot that worked fine.

I've lucked out and had good luck with mine, but it's getting on up in age and has been out 24/7 year round for three and a half years (sorry, was distracted when I typed four haha)

Probably replace the batteries again and see if it's performance improves. As it is, I'm not seeing enough to justify how much corn is eaten, though recently corn's not disappearing. Hope it'll pick up soon!

I'm heading out in the morning from 6am to 1pm and will give an update on what I'm seeing. My pics over the last couple of days are mostly doe's with a couple of smaller bucks wondering around.

Also did a bunch of game camera photo reviews today and found that the over the last 3yrs several different large bucks have shown up on Dec 4th like clock work, so I'll be doing an all day hunt on that day.

I rattled in 2 yesterday. One had a horn broke off. The one that followed him in was a shooter, but didn’t give me a lane.

Seems rut in Grayson is in full swing..?

I sat from 6am to 6pm and saw 5 younger bucks all cruising the woods today and not one stopped or even looked up at any of my grunts, so that means they only have one thing on their mind. Didn't see any doe's today so they may be locked down.

Had a young 2.5 yr old chasing a few does around last weekend in the morning. Had a 3 year old locked down on a doe yesterday morning, she was trying to get corn and he would bump her off. looked like he could care less about the corn. I have the same three year old, he was alone; last week and around last Wednesday on a corn pile a good distance away from the area he was with the doe.

not sure if that helps, I am new to being clued in on or expecting the rut
any other reports?

We've had intense rutting action from the mature bucks for the past 2 weeks. My best friend shot a 139 1/8 10 point. The taxidermist aged him at 7.5 years old. A buck we haven't seen on camera since 2014. We also had a sighting of our 200"+ buck last week he is getting old and going downhill on us, a 165" 12, a 145" 10, and a 130" 10 that is young.

He busted his G3 on his death run. It can be fixed though!

I really think the first wave has already hit and the big boys are locked down. I havenít seen anything for almost 10 days so I am hoping they will get up and start cruising again here anytime.
