I can't go into Po' Melvin's without getting the catfish. Now it looks like I'll have to break from tradition and try the CFS. Honestly the best I've had though was at Lane's in San Isidro. Another good one was in Somerville. I forget the name of the place, but a small CFS hung over the plate and it was delicious.

It's harder to find good catfish around here so I will often times go that route as well.

My favorite place for a CFS.

Not a traditional CFS, but the chicken fried short rib at Jack Allen's Kitchen in Austin and Round Rock is awesome!

They take a big beef double short rib (one rib bone, one full piece of meat on each side), braise it tender, then batter and chicken fry it. It will put you to sleep in the booth with a smile on you face.

Price is good for how much volume and flavor you get.
