Awesome video Booner! Thanks for sharing and congrats on the great buck.

Default RV parking/camping

I'm planning on setting my camper up for an out of town TBHer for the segment C Hagerman hunt.
I'm close to Big Mineral/Gordonville so I was gonna park it at Big Mineral. Prob still close to a 30 min drive to the headquarters

Where would the closest/best RV parking be? I'm not familiar with anything E of Whitesboro, lol.

You can't go wrong at Paradise cove. Leonard and his wife are good people.

......and according to what I've read here in years past you could see a 200" deer strolling the area.

I've stayed at Big Mineral and Paradise Cove. As above- Paradise Cove, quicker to check-in and Goode. If I was hunting Godwin I'd consider Big Mineral.

To add, Big Mineral didn't have restrooms/showers, Paradise Cove did. I hate taking a pre-hunt constitutional or shower in our trailer. Also fill up the water tank, if it freezes they may turn off the water (Big Mineral), or your hose will freeze up.

BM has public bathrooms but no showers. If weather holds, freezing shouldn't be an issue (hopefully).

Yes sir, some of the most memorable hunt have been in adverse conditions, Most ended without harvesting anything but the memory. In childress several years ago it was seven degrees with the wind blowing around thirty, my hunting partner at the time was sleeping late and kept telling me it was rain to leave him alone. l when out dresses in about all the warm clothes I had, walking to the stand i realizes i was being followed by a skunk about ten yard behind me in the dark. He kept following me for several hundred yard and he was growling as we went alone. I though he was so cold he was tring to commit suiside and any closer he would have. the sit in the tripod was three of the longest hours of my life and the coldest. Did not see a thing. At one o clock that afternoon i was leaving the wind had died and it felt good enough to just have a thermal top and jeans on getting ready to leave out as I opened the gate to leave out and got back in the truck i noticed the temp in the roof of my truck was just twenty one degrees but it felt like 60.

I heard an old guy at work say, "...If it was easy they'd be little girls out here doing it..." one time.

I think about that every time we get ready for another segment at the H. To me, the challenge is a big part of what makes this hunt special......and makes it just challenging enough to filter out a good percentage of the jackwaggon, jakeleg, nimrods that are likely to screw things up. (Notice I didn't say "All")

Looking forward to following along.

Well just rapped up today's walk about and found one land owner hunting the fence but it was his fence. He was none to happy, can't say I blame him. Did not see any deer or pigs but a.ton of track. Maybe a couple tons of pig tracks. Will check a couple.more.spots before Thursday

everybody needs to have their scouting done well before the season starts, all the scouting just before each hunt just pushes the deer off

I agree but the deer patterns change from early to late season. Segment B had rut and I hope we have a little still. I doubt it but hope. I'm on food and lots of it.

Don't be discouraged. I felt the same way after two scouting trips.

There are plenty of deer, plenty of bucks and I never saw a hog in the areas I scouted or hunted.

The 3 Commandments of Hagerman......

1. You need to be in a decent area based on sign that you have found.
2. You have to be in the right place at the right time within that area.
3. You need some luck to get off a decent shot on most likely your only chance.

Good Luck !!!!

I know I'm late on the ball but still haven't made my mind up on driving home each night or not. Friends say it's worth it to get a hotel so I probably will. If anyone else wants to split I would be up for that. I'm clean and I snore a bit but if you can handle that I figure it would help us cut costs a little haha

I'm gonna post this pic to get you boys excited. I had a customer of mine out hiking around 2 evenings ago and caught this buck out cruising in one of the fields in big mineral. Hard to make it out with a phone pic but that's all he had. He thought it would go 170's easy.
