Was just finishing up on a small shelf job and walking out the door when I noticed something on the floor that hadn't been there usually. Shooed it outside and went to get the camera--it was nice and cooperative and laid there to get its photo taken. Pretty large one--my estimate is 23-25" long. Looks like a checkered garter snake to me. After I took its picture, I chased it off into the shrubbery.

Yep checkered garter snake. Man those are some stinky little rascals.

That one is almost big enough to help with your possum problems.

Possums aren't a problem for me--at least the last two aren't. They are someone else's problem now--Just need to catch the skunk seen roaming the neighbor's yard in broad daylight yesterday.

Didn't pick it up--so didn't get to experience its unique scent!!!
