    Straight up the leg

For what it is worth about 80% of the folks that visit with us to hunt come here planning to shoot their animal right behind the crease of the shoulder.

I try to take the time to convince them that that is too far back.
    Some listen, some don't.

I promise if you shoot your deer or hog broadside right above the leg he will go down within a 100 yards and will leave a good blood trail.
If you shoot your deer or pig mid body right behind the shoulder, you have about a 50/50 chance he will be hard to find.
Good luck to everyone this weekend
    Love Buff

That is exactly where I shoot them. In the shoulder, not behind it.

              Good stuff!

This thread covered this as well, with quite a few illustrations.

Heck yeah! Great reminder. Here's a video of my son, Jonathon, doing just that.

Don't forget to aim a bit lower also.

Video is amazing to watch just how fast their reaction time is and how far they drop in that split second.

Great pictures and reminder. I was always a crease guy but more recently have started aiming right up the leg and have had great results.

When I used to rifle hunt that was my preferred shot.
Bowhunting has always recommended behind the shoulder shot.
Going to use your advise strictly this year to see how it performs.
