I'm a sucker for a breakfast burrito. Just got through eating two (not helping my workout routine) this morning.

So where in Texas is the best place to get a killer breakfast burrito?

A couple little joints in La Grange - one at the corner of 71 bypass & Hwy 77 on the South side Taqueria Rio Verde and another on business 71 heading West on the North side before the Old Cottonwood Inn (don't know the name, but they are busy all week long and especially on Saturdays).

The only other place I had really great breakfast tacos was a little hole in the wall in Rockport and dadgum they were the very best I had ever eaten - can't remember the name and it was back in the late 90's when I was going down the coast monthly.

Best breakfast burrito (taco) in Texas is at the corner of Spencer Hwy and South 8th street in La Porte, Texas! They are a buck a piece and absolutely out of this world!!!

I stopped my jeep at that service station/ice house on the corner across from Atascosa Wildlife and the BBQ place in Jourdanton and picked up one. I started eating on it while traveling the backroad to Uvalde and ran off the road twice and had juice all down the front of my shirt. Once I took a bite I flew into a frenzy and couldn't stop.

Corner Stop here in San Angelo is pretty darn good.

I love Porfirio's in Austin, excellent green sauce.

I don't go to nearly as many hole in the wall places any more so my vote will have to go to Torchy's in Austin. I went all through high school going to El Charrito in Gerogetown they were super cheap and really delicious.

I'm going to have to start a Texas food journal and carry it with me when traveling. Chiloso looks good. All the rest sound good. I'm gonna have to eat Mexican food for lunch today.

Not to steal the thread, but what makes a great breakfast burrito?

I like to keep it pretty simple: egg, bacon, refried beans, potatoe, did I mention bacon and a sauce that does not over power all the other flavors.

Two amigos in Waxahachie was so amazing I would eat there everyday for breakfast. The owner came from San Antonio. Awesome green sauce. The owner let his son take over and hasn't been the same.

This thread is killing me. I'm dying for a breakfast taco now.

I like all kinds depending on my mood, but just like I use brisket as the standard for judging a BBQ place, I think a simple potato and egg or bean and cheese is the standard for determining a good breakfast taco. Like a brisket, hard to screw up, but even harder to perfect!

Jalisco in Pearsall Texas is awesome. I gained 25lbs. in the 3 years I worked in Pearsll, mostly because of this place.

I prefer pan sausage over bacon in mine. No potato or beans. Just sausage, egg and chesse with a little picante sauce.

One of the best places I have been to has to be Salgado's in Belton. It is a little orange mexican restaurant and they have a whole breakfast burrito side on the menu. When I was in college we used to hit it up everyday because it was amazing and CHEAP! I want to say it was like $3.75 for the #1, which included bacon, sausage, potato, egg and cheese. I would always add beans too. Their chicken fajita breakfast burrito came in a close second. Did I mention these things were huge! One was all you could handle.

Don't really know of any "off the chain" joints, there used to be one i Brady I like but it closed and opened back up and started sucking. But I love a good ol' greasy Barbocoa taco.

Don't know the name but is in cherokee, tx on the corner of hwy 16 and RR 501. You can only eat one because they are huge and they are cheap.

Not really a burrito, but Juan in a Million in austin. You get tortillas with the Don Juan. greatness. Its a pile of eggs bacon and potatoes.
