I've seen folks around here make small game heads out of various items so I thought I'd give it a try. I wanted to see if I could come up with a combination that would weigh the exact 145 grains I use for broadheads and field tips. I had this bag of T-Nuts from another project and as luck would have it, a 100 grain field tip fit perfectly snug inside.
It was too heavy, so using a bench grinder I took off a little at a time, weighing it along the way.
Bingo! Well within one grain anyway.
I attached the nut to the field tip - which fit tight to start with - using a smear of JB Weld.
Now I just need to find a small and furry woodland creature to try it out on. I may just have to "spill" some sunflower seed under the bird feeder. (I wonder what the neighbors will think about me sitting on the patio in a ghillie suit?)
