There was a thread last night. Posting said deer was in the back of GW's truck. I guess GW let someone take a pic.

kody-- you cannot get a lease at the Hagerman since it is a wildlife refuge. you can however enter a drawing to hunt there. you can look for leases near the refuge. Search Hagerman, H or The H and you will find more than enough reading material.

Has anyone figured out why the deer at Hagerman look the way they do? Have wildlife biologist done any studies that looked into this? Is it just Genetics? Or is there really something in the water?
I am Not trying to start an arguement or heated debate with this post I just want to know if there is any educated reasoning behind this.

Legend has it that the great Buck Medley hunted the Hagerman years ago and took several whizzes around the refuge. Heavy rainfalls spread his whiz around and throughout the refuge. You now have the awesomeness and strength of Buck Medley's genes in those deer.

The deer from the H were imported back in WWII because of the bid Army Air Cop base there. They wanted a big hearty deer that would produce a lot of meet in time of war. The deer population prior to WWII was very limited in the area.

That's the kind of deer that hunters at Hagerman dream of. That's also why they sit ask day long.

Wow, that's impressive. gut impression is it is greater than 200 inches. But scoring a deer like that has to be fun, but a nightmare.

Dont really look like a gw truck. Especially with a cooler in the back. Plus I'm pretty sure I've seen this pic before.

Me too, I saw it on another thread today on TBH! It's as real as it gets and the buck looks almost the same as every other 200" + deer to come out of that area over the last 25 years except for maybe Grayson's. But in reality they're all the same, just a lil' bit different...
