Awesome work. I have a friend that I work and hunt with,that Ive known for years who has been hunting with a spear for a long time. He was born and raised on the island of St. Thomas and from spear fishing to spear hunting pig,sheep and goats, he was raised doing this. I wish he would post on here, maybe one day I can.

All my hog spots are on tree lines the guy filming was in a field in a tripod. The wind was perfect that day which made it a great hog set up. It's all about the wind direction.

Where did you hit the hog initially with the spear? I'm assuming in the head area somewhere for it not to penetrate.

Unbelievable video, brother. Kudos to you and your cameraman.

Actually I hit it a little high in the spine right over top of the spinal cord in the vertebrae it gave it a kind of stinger I guess. If you watch the video closely you can see the hogs legs roll into the brush and that's when the spear bent when it rolled onto it.

And thanks for noticing the camera mans great job I tell him everytime someone notices how he did.

I tell him everytime someone says something about him. We are ready to start going again soon and will hopefully get some bigger hogs this year. The biggest problem that we have is getting them to come out in the daytime. We have started leaving at dark because we can't make a good video unless it is daylight and who wants to spear a hog without a good video of it? Thanks for the comments they keep Rick motivated and he is excited about filming again this year.

In my limited spear hunting experience this is the best spear design I've seen for throwing except it is too light. It has those hooks on the end and for the way spear hunting seems to happen for me I try to get it deep enough to stick in anywhere then run it down. I break plenty of broom sticks sweeping and I know they wouldn't hold up to what happens trying to kill a hog. But an awesome design for throwing and sticking in and running down.

If I wanted to try to throw it and let it run off then I would use something like a typical African tear drop shaped spear that would slide in and fall out to facilitate bleeding.
