GRXH 2011 Aftermath ~ "Uva Uvam Vivendo Varia Fit".

Largely due to my stupidity...okay, entirely due to my stupidity, I only have a few images. just a few from Saturday night and leaving Sunday. Others had cameras and phones and I hope they will post their images up as well.

Top Ten things I Learned at the 2011 GRXH

    1) A boat WILL sink even though it is tied to a tree on the bank.
    2) Hammock Camping is taking over the world.
    3) You can never have too much wood on the fire.
    4) You can never have too much beer for the Catfish Mafia.
    5) The Granger Gorilla gets 'em every time.
    6) Plus1 DOES scream like a girl.
    7) The channel doesn't move, and neither do the stumps; if you are scared, go slow.
    8) There are no pigs at Granger, and apparently no whites or crappie either.
    9) Guys from West Texas are fireproof; at least they think they are after 100 beers.
    10) Who's river is it? MINE!

7hanks to everyone for a great time.
Catfish Mafia for catching the food.
    Sackett for cooking the food.
The kids for making us feel old, but look wise.
and everyone for the camaraderie, fellowship, stories, live entertainment and just generally being a fine group of people to hunt, fish and spend a weekend in the woods with.

Lots of people this year; that means lots of shuttle rides back and forth to No. 7. Although, we had a pretty impressive turn out of water worthy boats as well.

    Leaving on Sunday...

I am always impressed when this many people, with this much gear, get to moving and we don't have more people getting wet. We only had one go in the drink this year, and it wasn't Wildman!

We had another big first this year. Last year it was the first year we killed a pig on the GRXH; this year we hosted our first Female Granger Ranger! Plus1, 7hanks for putting up with our follies and y'all are welcome at my fire anytime.

The Catfish mafia made sure we were well fed all weekend. We started off with about 60 pounds of catfish on Friday Night, and ended up with a few crappie, whites and even a black bass. We also had fried rabbit, but drew the line at the Red Eared Slider. You know it's a good extreme hunt when no one wants to eat a Red Eared Slider!

Yes, the youngsters do make us feel a bit older. Wise is situational. Does anyone admit to more than 52 yrs? It was a LARGE time, and FishNDude there were many hours spent looking for the elusive Granger Hogs. #6, #7, the point, the spot, PC and some locations that were not discribed in delay were hunted hard. A few sightings, fewer shots taken, one pig not recovered. All in All a typical GRXH.

Rat thanks for the pics. Now I can prove I was there.

Proximo anos, Con favor de dios.

This fire is far more tame than Friday nights. I can still smell the sweet aroma of burning hair.

A small portion of Saturdays fare. I wish I could claim I contributed to the fine dining but I was skunked by those elusive hogs. Thanks to the fishermen or we all would have withered away from hunger.

Not to be ashamed about no hogs on the ground, Granger is Ph D. level hog hunting. When you do see them you're usually so tangled in the brush you can't draw your bow, or they're running so fast your arrow can't catch up to them.

As always, truely enjoyed everyones company. And as always, the Freaking San Gabriel River has a jinx on any motor I bring into it. I'll post some pics and then my top things learned.

Catfish Mafia. We call him Jesus, others call him Kreuger, some call him Half a bubble off Plumb. They bring us fish, food and entertainment you can't buy:
