Whew, hadn't been on here for a bit and did I get behind. Really enjoying this Michael. Congrats on all the animals but the lion was really a rush for me. I can't imagine what you felt. At this moment I am extremely proud that you shared the blind with me the morning I made my first bowkill. Little did I know then that you would be shooting animals in Africa in just a few short years. Waiting for more brother. Can't wait.

Micheal as professional and entertaining as this has been and it is not even finished yet, I am hesistant to put a semi live recap of my hunt coming up from the 20th to the 29th in the Limpopo also. You have definitley thrown down the guantlet and it is going to be a very tough one to follow.

Definitley will have to get expert help for the follow up recap and pics when i get back.

This has been as good as anything I have seen in a long long time!

On this day, we began earlier than usual so that we could check various travel routes and waterholes for sign. As a first timer to Africa, my hunting was best described as more of a buffet style than ordering off the menu. While there were certainly animals I really wanted and hoped we'd see, I was just about open to anything! As we checked for tracks at the various locations, I couldn't help but smile every time my PH or Tracker pointed out the tracks of those animals I wanted the most. After checking out a few different locations and analyzing the wide variety of tracks, Anthony made the decision......a very good one I might add!!!

As this lone stallion gazed at the water and surroundings, I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. Just the previous evening, I was conversing around the campfire with one of the hunters in camp. This trip represented his third to Africa and he had yet to have the opportunity for a zebra in bow range.

I focused directly on the triangle striations present on all zebras right at the shoulder and loosed the arrow....

As the arrow struck, the unmistakable outpouring of bright red blood could be seen as he raced away. After making it to the thicker brush, he slowed to a walk. After a few slow and wobbly steps, he surged up on his hind legs and then hit the dirt....I knew it was over!

As we examined this unbelievable animal, we noticed his life had been one filled with obvious struggle and confrontation. He had bite marks across his neck, scars ridden across his body, and a broken jaw; almost assuredly coming from the hoof of another zebra while fighting......and despite it all, he was still truly one of the most beautiful animals I've ever seen and will most definitely hold a very special place on my wall.
