Default Elk hunting in Texas...

Any recommendations? they far under the Exotic rule right?

I'm trying to put together a trip for late 2011, being in Hawaii I got to plan far ahead.

Any suggestions or places?

The only place I know of personally that has Elk is Circle T ranch, about an hour north east of Dallas. However, I believe you need to plan ahead because if they don't have any then they'll need to get some.

Are you looking for a free ranging elk or a high fence elk?

Either one at this point.
I heard there are free ranging elk over on the New Mexico side of Texas. But then again floating around out here on the rock it might not be right?

Mahalo for the link CrookedArrow.

Couple hundred acres sound small, I've hunted high fence and got my but kicked.

Man, that place looks nice! I'm guess it's about as much to hunt there as the 777.

I have personally seen some MONSTER elk (TOTALLY FREE RANGE) on this ranch North of Marathon in the Glass Mountains.

It's really a gorgeous ranch.
