Default Homemade Bow Wrist Sling

I found a DIY video showing how to make a bow wrist sling. I have been looking for a better one than the cheap looking one I bought (that was all I could find). It looked easy to make and I was looking for something to do, so I bought four different paracord colors, desert digital, red, black and woodlands, 100’ at $6.50 each + shipping.

It was NOT easy at first and took over two hours just to make the first one. My hands were cramping and I was getting frustrated. After many attempts to get the 4 string braid down I was successful. After the braid came the cobra weave, that’s the thick weave over the braid that covers the hand, and what makes the wrist sling look good. That part was easier than the braid. Once I got the whole process down I started mixing the colors to see what color combination I could come up with, I made a red and black one for my friend’s bow and a camo one for me. After making three I started to get faster, around 30 to 40 min each.

Now I need to find some leather and make the leather bracket that holds the wrist sling.

Nice work. I am not sure I have the patience to braid one of those!

Yes, these are nifty to make. I've done a couple of different designs. I've been making them and selling them in our shop here in town. I enjoy it and it's nice to see some of my personal work on the bows that frequent the shop.

Yours look plenty sharp!

I have not had the time to look for leather, I'll hit the hobby shop and see if they have some belt blank.

I made one yesterday after seeing this, Thanks for sharing because now, I want to start making them for Christmas gifts. I bought some paracord from Gibson's which only had a scarce color selection so I would like to buy some more with different patterns. Where do you buy yours at?

You can get leather remnants at Tandy. All you need are small pieces for that connector piece.

I bought the paracord from Barre Army Navy Store www.vtarmynavy.com. paid 6.50 per 100f + shipping. You want the 7 strand paracord. I have not tried the 4 strand.

Thanks! I just ordered some. How long did it take to get to your door? A week or so is what I'm guessing.

You can get a rainbow of color selection from White Moose Trading Company. They are also on ebay. The guy's name is Matt (maframe) and he's great to deal with. You make an order and it ships the next morning.

I've made several too, you don't need the leather, just make your braid a little longer and zip tie it onto itself
