Since summer time is in full swing, my family likes to make icecream a few times during the season for get togethers. Our usual is the classic vanilla and the toppings are left at the consumers option. Occasionally, we'll make a batch of Big Red ice cream, but I'd like to see what the TBH family has to offer. I ran across a peanut butter recipe the other day, but I think I'd be the only taker for that one. So what'cha got?...
Thanks in advance, head |

I usually do vanilla, chocolate and buttered pecan; freeze them all the same day, then graze on them as long as they last.

I'll revive this thread.
Coconut Ice Cream 1 cup milk 1 (14 ounce) can cream of coconut 1 1/2 cups heavy cream 1 1/2 cups sweetened flaked coconut (optional) Very simple, very quick and tastes very good. I usually cut the heavy cream back a bit or it tastes like coconut whipped cream. *not a bad thing* |

I got an ice cream maker for my birthda a few weeks ago, and I have been making batches right and left.
So far, this is the best *non-custard recipie I have came up with: makes 2 Quarts 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 2 cans sweetened condensed milk 1 can evaporated milk 1 TB vanilla extract 1 tsp hazelnut extract Whole milk Cream the sugar and eggs together, add vanilla, hazlenut, evaporated milk and sweetended condensed milk, mix and pour into ice cream maker. Fill to the line with whole milk. Made it with and without hazlenut, and the hazlenut really gives it a buttery flavor Yummer.

If you have kids, the best way to make ice cream is Kick the Can. Use the same ingredients as above, put in a 1 pound coffee can. Duck tape the lid really well. Get a 3 or 5 pound can and put the smaller can inside. Add rocksalt and ice (about half of each). Tape the big can really well and give it to the kids to kick or roll around until the ice cream is made - about 15 minutes.
We've always used metal cans because they stay cold. Not tried the new plastic coffee tubs.
