Default Tuthdoc Memorial Shoot Announced!

Banana Bend Archery Club is proud to announce the Tuthdoc Memorial Shoot on April 11th, 2010. In honor of John (Tuthdoc) Lee, being one of the founding members of the club and just an all around great guy, we are going to host a 3D shoot in his name. All proceeds will be donated to a dental scholarship fund in his name. Please put it on your calender to attend.

Donations and fund raising ideas are accepted and appreciated! Thanks!
Direct donations to: Tuthdoc Scholarship Fund, in care of Banana Bend Archery, PO Box 8359, Baytown, Tx. 77522.

MAN!!! I'm excited about the "Tuthdoc Memorial Shoot". I have come up with a couple of auction items for the Sholarship Fundraiser. I had Camron Gott of Custom Crest Arrow Wraps make some special "TD, Drill one!!!, Kill all pigs" arrow wraps to be auctioned. Also Sam Russell of Triple Edge Archery has a NEW Bowtech 82nd Airborn "60#" in true John"Tuthdoc"Lee fashion, it too will be up for auction. I will post a pic of the bow soon. I feel that it will be a good turnout with all proceeds going to help a student follow their dreams.

Jack,

Thanks for posting the information! I'm looking forward to helping get things set up for what will hopefully be a great turnout!!!

John was the Banana Bend range-captain for many years and was known to set up a "challenging course".

I always made it a point to shoot with him, because he was fun to be around and told great stories in between shots....

I tried earlier to post a pic of the Tuthdoc wraps, but it didn't work so I'm trying it again. Also Mark it was good to see ya today, Thanks for stopping by the shop to shoot the breeze and fling some arrows.

Probably closest to take 290 East to Houston, turn right (south) on loop 610, travel to I-10, turn left (east) towards downtown, travel through Houston to Baytown which is 15 or 20 so miles to the east, to Exit 793 N. Main, turn left on N. Main (north) travel approx. 1 mile to 4 way stop which is Wallisville, (school on the corner) Turn right (east) approx 1 mile, look for a small street sign on left hand side as Haden T's into Wallisville road. turn left (north) on Haden approx 1/4 mile, look for yellow pipe gate and Bananbend sign on the right hand side. We will also have some 3D signs up.

Bump to the top! We had more items donated by some great people this weekend at our opener, more to come on that. We would really like to donate a ton of money to his charity so please come, even if you don't care to bid on anything, shoot and food proceeds are all going to the donation so every dollar counts.

Hello Rhendrix, I know that we will have raffle tickets at $5.00 donation per ticket for a chance at $500.00 CASH, there will be a NEW 2008 Bowtech 82nd Airborne in 60# just like the one that John Lee hunted with up for auction that we got from Sam at Triple Edge Archery, some limited edition custom "TD" arrow wraps designed by Cameron Gott, a hog hunt for 2 hunters in South Texas donated by The Greek. We will have Bar-b-que for sale and I've heard that there could be more auction items added, but that has not been confirmed. All auction items will be live bid, so come and enjoy as we commemorate the Great life of John"tuthdoc"Lee. Hope to see ya'll there.

For those planning to come shoot from out of town, the big NHRA race is going to be in town just down the road, so motel rooms will be harder to find real close, you might want to consider reserving early, as in now. You could even get a couple of days of racing in. As far as start time we are a California start but we plan on kicking things off at 9 with a prayer, then its on anytime, we would like to get it rolling so we can get done, draw for the money, auction the prizes off and get folks on the road as early as possible.

Novelty as in for beginners? So I wouldn't shoot against folks that shoot 3D all the time I would shoot more against folks just starting 3D? Excuse my ignorance...

Novelty is extra curricular activities following the shoot, such as long shot, iron banana shot, and what we call our club steak where we set out ten stakes in difficult situations, winners takes half the pot. As far as the 3d shoot itself we have a novice class, it is the blue stake, a 35 yard max distance. The novelty shoots are mainly for the bravehearts and daring. Main thing is we want you to have fun so you will come back!

here is a link to our shooting classes. We don't have a novice class shooting the longer yardages, shoot the bow hunter release class (red stake).

Need best driving directions from Around the airport near Sam Houston Tollway and 59 in Houston. The goggle maps is taking me back down 59 towards houston, then cutting over to 610 North Loop fwy, then to I-10 east. On the map though, there is a North Sam Houston Pkwy E. Is that a highway or are there stops on there? It looks shorter and goes all the way to 10. Please advise.

Also, for anyone interested, Will be at Tumbleweed on Sat Night.

Come around the beltway to US 90, go east to Crosby 2100, go south to the red light turn left on 1942, go east to Hadden. There is a caution light at the 1942 - Garth intersection, I am going to say it is 2 or so miles past the caution light, we will have a 2 x 2 3D sign out, look for a white fence on the left hand side, Hadden hits @ that white fence on the oppisite side.
