Tearing up anything green this year, they really like oats, wheat, and klein grass. Had some oats hit two days ago, we sprayed them with Silencer insecticide. Killed them in less than 2 hours.

Heavy dry period followed by heavy rainy period. The grass was in a weakened state when they showed up.

I've never had to treat for them before, but this year they got all of my new rye grass and were vengefully attacking the bermuda grass. I bought some Mustang Max. No more worms or grasshoppers or crickets. And my rye grass and bermuda grass are coming back. If you don't have a applicator's license, you can use Sevin.

PS - I'm talking about my pastures, not residential lawn. You can use liquid Sevin hose end sprayer for your yard. It is cheap and effective, but it will wash out in the rain.

If you have a applicators liscence you need to go get some SCIMITAR or TALSTAR (Talstar is expensive but awesome!) works great on them. They have eaten every yard that has Bermuda grass in my small town including my own.
