Angry Evil Temptress

I normally don't shoot a doe if she has a fawn with her still. This doe has been tempting me all morning. She has gone and came back 3 times and I have had her from 12 to 20 yrds multiple times this morning lol. She sure is making it hard on me this morning. I haven't gotten to release an arrow yet this season and my rookie bowhunting wife is spanking my tail by 2 so far. Baby is plenty big to make it but still has some spots. She better not show back up for a 4th visit.

No its not just about the kill! I could have shot this doe opening weekend also but didn't. I am happier seeing my wife shoot and enjoy bowhunting. I do love bowhunting and killing does come along with that but with that said she is still making it hard me lol.

I did it about 5 years ago and won't do it again. I had missed a buck by inches the season before and said that the next legal deer that got close was toast. Fawn kept coming back looking and calling for momma. I just can't.

I’ve seen that same deal on the ranch I run. This city hunter totally threw out the rules of what to and not to shoot and he shot the first doe that walked out so when we showed up to pick him up the fawn came in bleating and running around. Bad deal.

I wont shoot them either. I was just thinking this morning what an eveil temptress becaue she knows that baby is her cover and saving grace. This one has been tempting me on multiple sits. Just hoping she lures a buck in soon.

Passed up multiple does this weekend. I feel like if I question whether or not I want to shoot even once I just wonít do it. Even though Iíd love to have some fresh back straps right now.

We shoot does with fawns. Once a doe has raised a fawn or two she is expendable.

Wait until they line up a little closer and you could tie your wife with one shot.

I have heard of studies if you shoot a doe and she had buck fawns that the buck fawns will stay in the area. It said something about if the doe survives then they are run out of the area. I guess this helps to keep the inbreeding to a minimum. It also mentioned that a fawn over three months old can take care of itself.

Noooo-not about the kill. It's about my granddaughter bugging me with "When will the buck sticks be ready?"

I always keep brown shoe polish in the truck to covet the spots, looks better in the photos.

Likewise. I was trying to take a couple of culls this weekend...a doe or cull buck. Only had one day to hunt. Had a beautifull 12 point hoss in front of me and some young bucks, but no culls. Dang doe with still spotted fawn kept coming in, and I passed. I just could not get myself to shoot with the young fawn.

Finally, a long spike came in at the evening hunt. Meat.

I dont think so honestly. I have been in that place where I shot a doe that had no fawn with it. Well come to find out the fawn just didn't come out. When we found the doe, we had to run off the fawn and she followed us as we were dragging the doe. Sorry, call me soft or whatever you want. I ain't that mad at them. Yes that could happen again if the fawn isn't out but today the fawn was out so she got a pass.

Then I'm all good with passing on her.. good luck on having a solo doe or spike come thru and you get a chance!!

It has never bothered me when I’m killing does. I was usually just doing it to keep the numbers right

Yep. And in reality you would probably be better off shooting the fawn if you knew for sure it is a doe.
