    Cocking feathers (vains)

I'm just now getting back into archery after 15 years. Back then the thing was to have the cocking feather (vain) facing outwards and the cocking feather (vain) was a different color. Now days the cocking feather (vain) are seen in a different position and sometimes the same color as the other feathers (vains).

I realise the position depends on which rest you use.

What's the deal with the same colors?

There really are so many varieties of fletching to choose from. Personal preference and type of rest really do matter these days. Its also sometimes cheaper to buy a whole new set of arrows, than to have them refletched, its crazy!

I usually use the same color cause I don't want to buy to packs of blazers... Also it's a visual. When my eye picks up the arrow in flight, sometimes that odd color makes it look like its "wobbling" when it may not be.
