Anyone use a dehumifier to “cool” there house?

        I would not use a dehumidifier or DH unless there is a true moisture problem in the house. The HVAC unit will do its job and dry the air and exhaust the heat outside. A standalone DH unit will produce a fair amount of heat while dying the air. To be really effective, the DH needs to have a small air mover working alongside to move the air to the DH.

        Another consideration is that you can get the air too dry and that leads to nasal discomfort for some families.

          Thanks for the thread. I thought we were good and I am way wrong.
          We have a new HVAC unit with all the bells and switches. Just checked and we were at 63% {97% outside this morning}
          Read 4 articles saying 45% is optimal, Moved the control to 50% and we will see.

            Have one in my basement- works well. I do have it plumbed to drain otherwise I was emptying it way too often.
