I have heard that you can buy cheaply or get for free a rejected concrete culvert from txdot. They make excellent firepits. Bury the stem and fill the culvert with sand to desired height.

This is in my back yard but I would do something similar at Deer Camp. The bottom and inside walls are firebrick. I still intend to drill a hole in the bottom firebrick to place a pole/post on which a swivel grate would be mounted for cooking.

Here is ours. Had Mitch make it. Just the top part of one of his feeders. I wanted a pit with a top lid

              what the diameter on yours?

this is pretty close with what im wanting to do. I have a metal 36" ring, with a swing away grate that I wanted to use, but I'm thinking that I will have to use firebrick anyway.

It’s rusted out. You can have it[emoji51]

Main reason I’m getting away from steel pits.

In that second pic, is the fire pit inside the barn? I hope it was flooding outside...

I bought this one from a TBH'er a couple of years ago and don't use it much at all. It is 4' dia. and can build a great fire. If you are interested, I would let it go for $350.00. I'm in Jasper.
