Removing rear sight from a 1911

Any tips?
Prepping one for a cerakote job. Removed the center tap screw even.Darn thing won't budge.

You need a sight pusher - but it can be done with a brass drift. It’s also a tapered dovetail- make sure you’re whacking it in the right direction.

Nope - if you’re holding it like you are going to choot something place your drift/punch on the left side and hammer it out towards the right side

Try putting the slide in the freezer for an hour - sometimes it shrink just enough to be able to whack it out.

Try hitting it harder with your purse.
Just kidding, I’ve had to soak them in penetrating oil overnight before. It was an old government model replica. Broke a sight pusher on it before trying the penetrating oil.
