Had a great last day in Alaska! Iím glad things worked out the way they did. Wind expected red to start tomorrow evening and really blow through the weekend. They are thinking the guys who were planning on heading out Friday and the new hunters coming in will need to rearrange travel. Glad Iím getting started towards home in the am!

Had breakfast at 0800 and we hit the water at around 9 am. Got back to the dock at 530 pm with time to clean fish and get ready for dinner. We focused on halibut and I landed the only one. About 40-50 pounds out of 300 feet of water! On a jig! Caught probably 10 lingcod from 10-50+ pounds. I did catch another tiger rockfish and a bunch of black rockfish. No yelloweye today. We took a grill with us and cooked a few rockfish filets on the boat. Dang good. Iím ready to head home, see the family, and coach the kids. I need them more than they need me!!!!

One of my bigger lingcod and my halibut. Too bad we had to release the cod!

Another beauty!

Fresh fish tacos for dinner!

Please donít forget the story of my little rock! I try to find meaning and lessons in life. After my unsuccessful brown bear hunt in 2015 I vowed to return to Alaska again and hunt the big bears again. My life is now markedly different! I took this small stone from the Togiak and kept it at home until this return mission. Well now the trip is complete. I sat on the small inlet behind cabin number 3 and had a nice talk with God about where I have been, my recent struggles, and my lack of patience with the bow. I found my rock a nice resting place just above the water where sunrise in the east will shine on it as well as the sunset in the west. Maybe one day I will be back to hunt or fish this special place and will again pray at that waters edge. If not, I hope that God continues to give me guidance and strength and blessings I donít deserve.

My rockís special place.

View to the east.

View for sunset.

Thank you for allowing us to tag along on your trips. It makes me want to travel the world and hunt even more. I am even more impressed with you after the rock! We all have our struggles in life, even when it does look like we have our life together. God is in control and will have us be where we are supposed to be. Thank you for being a Godly man, a brother in hunting and husband and dad to your wife and her son!

I promise my life is not all roses right now. It tough and I feel like at every turn it’s bad news with not much I can do to fix it. All I can do is keep the faith and weather the storm. Part of that is why I need to be home. Things will work out and I’m a firm believer God won’t give you more than you can handle. I’m back in kodiak and will start the trip home soon.

God never said he wonít give you more than you can handle, but thank God he wonít ever give us more than HE can handle. I know thatís easier said than done sometimes, but nothing is too big for God to take care of.

I know I am always a little chubby but Iím heading home heavy! Got everything checked in at Anchorage and Iím headed for food. All I have had is a muffin and coffee today.

Havenít been feeling great the last couple days. May Be nap time on the flight home.

Been another great trip up north! I have been up this way a few times now. Sure is a great place for the traveling sportsman. I really need to come back for my Alaska barren ground caribou and would love to bring junior along for a 2x1 hunt before school starts in the next couple years. Running low on hunt options but I promise to keep them rolling. They always seem to have some misadventure, triumphs and failures, and communication with higher powers.
