I had to sand down the barrel channel to get it free float on both rifles. Also on the Savage Axis I also sanded down the back tang safety area in order for the safety to engage.
I put a spike camp on a rem 783 heavy barrel 16.5 inch. It serves the purpose I wanted: light, compact, and improved accuracy due to not having the torque that the plastic factory stock did. No action or barrel fitment issues. Magazine fitment is not great. I also dislike the sharp square edges on forestock and the thumbhole is a bit too small. But the price was right.
Older photo of an RAR Compact in a Boyd's Heritage stock with added checkering. Had to do a bit of sanding to get it to fit right around the mag well and trigger. Chambered in 6.5CM, it's grandson's rifle now with a lighter scope on it.
Easy to go wild with added cost options, this one also has a reduced length of pull and a steel trigger guard.
