Between me and my freinds we get a few land owner tags every year. A few things I have learned if u use hook and line is the higher you set the bait off the water the better chance you have of catching bigger gators and leave plenty of extra line coiled up on the bank so they can take their time to swallow it and hook in their belly. If you hook them in the mouth they will fight like crazy and alot of the time break off or come unhooked.

We get close to 40 tags a year but haven’t hunted the last 2 years because the prices are so low.

Finally got drawn after 5 years putting in as a non resident.
Got back from Georgia 2 weeks ago and nailed a 7' gator in the swamps of Savannah.
It was snag drag and bang. No easy task. No bait on hooks like on TV.
