model 70 date?

I've looked at sights to find manufacture date with no luck. Mine is G 154***x, numbers go to 1982 and are lower. My grown son ask about this rifle after I got a spike last week, 1st deer taken in 10 years or so. I did bow hunt this year but never had a good opportunity. Any help is appreciated, Winchester and USRA searches didn't help.
