Little updates, it is as slow as molasses when the shop is full of money makers.

Pretty new steering wheel to match the silver outside.

I can't see where he's touched it in a few weeks, shop has been busy with rolling stock since we instituted a 30 day inspection on every piece of equipment. They are inspecting 3-4 trucks and about 6 trailers a day plus repairing what's wrong on them and others coming in with problems. It's hectic some days.

These boyz are thinking way out the box on this project, sometimes I worry they thinking too far out there. I walked out yesterday and Jake is sitting there with the headliners laying on a table and a round light installed in the old rectangle light fixture hole. And then there is a broken Zildjian cymbal laying on the table beside it.
The wheels are turning as Jake walks off and returns with a precision measuring tool. He starts measuring and making marks on the cymbal, looks up at me and says he's fixin to make a custom cover ring for the light assembly.

Side note:
They must not make cymbals like they used to, I've beaten and dropped a 50 year old set so many times they should have been destroyed.

The Cat 3406. One of the greatest diesel workhorses ever built in its power class. For both pulling in rigs and serving as power for offshore cranes and everything in between. They are a little pricey to rebuild especially compared to the Cummins but man they are somethin.

Back on track, it got so busy they rolled her back into the paint shop and literally quit working on her. Finally rolled her back into bay 1 last week and went back to work. Jake finally found a light that worked for the reading light and installed them, they turn on and off when the door opens and closes and also have an override switch above them to turn them on when needed.

Jake has been busy hooking wiring harnesses, brackets, and other items on the engine. He jsut finished the rebuild on the 18 speed and buttoned it up this morning. Timbo, our lead mechanic, laid down some great polishing on the covers.

I walked by this morning as Jake was putting bolts in the polished covers and asked him what he was torquing them to, 15 psi. I told him I haven't been allowed to tighten bolts that lite since I twisted one off on the race car u-joint.

Well thats cause psi is a measurement of pressure by volumn and not torque.
