    Steak rub

I will start this post by saying I am all about the beef flavor and almost never put anything other than salt and pepper on a steak. But for something a little different a buddy from Georgia told me about a rub he makes for steaks.

    He uses equal parts of:
    Brown sugar
    ground coffee
    and Kosher salt

Rub the steak well with the mixture and drop it on the hot part of the grill searing the rub then turn and sear the opposite side. From there move the steak to a little less direct heat and cook to your desired cooking time. I like to bring them very slowly to medium rare.

Like I said I'm a medium rare, salt and pepper guy when it comes to steak. I will admit for something different this really is good.

Be careful with the brown sugar, it can burn easily.

        Try this one:

        2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons cracked black pepper
        1 1/2 tablespoons paprika
        1 tablespoon ground cumin
        1/2 tablespoon kosher salt

lightly coat the steak with olive oil then coat the steaks with the above mixture. Let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 min. When ready to grill bring to room temp before putting on grill.

Usually only s&p. If I'm feeling the need for a little kick, I'll add some chili powder as well. Adds nice smokey sweetness.
