In my opinion it depends on what you are using them for. Just for looks or seeing any use? From my experiences there isnt a lot out there thats is worth a flip for $200 and under. I used to be a fan of ariat and tony llama but havenít bought any in 10 yrs because once they moved where they were made they didnt last at all

Most of my boots are Ariats. I do have some new twisted X, but I don’t think I like them as much as my Ariats.

For $200, check instore at cavendars, look for the dan post with the hybrid leather sole, has a portion of rubber inside the leather sole, have been very comfortable for the price, but i have a wide foot. Think they they are the ones labeled" cowboy certified". Lucchese's are hard to beat, but are $$$.

I wear nothing but boots. I've found that semi pointed toe neoprene type sole Ariats look pretty good and make good work boots. Way less than 200.

I tried on every brand in cavenders when I was looking for my current square toe pair in my price range. Each fit a little different in width and size. I went with the Ariats because they felt the best on my foot. I would suggest try them all on. Coach

Try what fits best.

I prefer Nocona smooth ostrich. Ostrich is comfortable and you can get a pair of Noconas for probably $250 after tax. Obviously less if itís on sale or with a coupon.

I haven't had much luck with boots under $200 but you might be able to catch a sale. I did get lucky and scored a pair of nice Dan Post Ostrich square toes at Boot Barn the other day for $279. They were on clearance from $550 and happened to be my size. The most comfortable pair I have is my Tony Lama Ostrich with crepe soles that I bought about 9 years ago.

Here is the boots I caught on clearance..

Today's Ariat are junk China product as you might expect. Twisted X are made in China, too, as well are Justin (unless you buy the specific Made in USA that puts you out of the $200 range).

Double H are in that range. I have a pair that are built MUCH better than the Chinese truck window sticker brands.

Shocked no one has thrown out Tecovas yet. Theyíre every bit the quality of Lucchese (which I think have fallen way off) and about half the price. You can get in a standard leather (non exotic) for low 200s. Have had a pair of caimans for well over a year and I wear them almost every day and theyíve held up great.

My last pair of goin to town Ariats were great. Lasted 10+ years. My current pair are the most uncomfortable boots Iíve ever owned. Iíve forced myself to wear them quite a bit hoping they just need extra break in time but no go. Iíll wear them out to dinner or whatever but Iím ready to kick them off as soon as I walk through the door.

I’m a boot snob. Every $200 boot I have owned has not lasted me 6 months. I know where $350+ Anderson beans for work boots. 2 reason dang comfy and they hold up better than anything else and I can get roughly a year or year/half out of them.

For dress I have Luchesses and Anderson beans

I wish I could find $200 boots that lasted more than 6-8 moths.

Another Bean fan here. Anderson beans are soo soo nice. I just got a new pair of elephants and even they are great right out of the box. They make a pair of bison with a hybrid sole that I describe as almost tennis shoe like.

I have been eyeing these as my next pair of ropers for a while. The few pairs I have seen look very nice.

I have a couple nice pairs of USA made Justins that dont seem to wear out, and I am fine with that.

I have been wearing Ariat for my everyday boots for 10 years, and the quality has taken a nose dive in my opinion. I will not be buying Ariats when they need to be replaced.
