South/central Tennessee to San Antonio ...What's the best route?

Chels and I will be driving back from Sewanee,TN this weekend.

What's the best route? What are some "must sees" along the way.

24 to 59 to I-12/10 in Louisiana to San Antonio. I probably do it twice a month on my way from the valley to Pennsylvania.
That's the best route but I don't sight see so someone else can chime in with that. Be safe.

Yeah if it was up to me, we wouldn't stop. But I'm sure the wife will want to sight see on the way home

Just did the 59 thing from Austin to Wood co. area, It sucks! Small towns, red lights and that good ol boy that just not in a hurry! Never again. Did I say it was over an hour longer!

If your not in a hurry take the Natchez trace to Natchez, spend the night at a B&B.
Then cross the MS river to LA, cut through Alexandria to near Lake Charles.
